The purpose of the Lab Manager is to oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure the quality of analyses. The Lab Manager must monitor equipment performance and make changes if necessary.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Run analyses in the laboratory
* Control QC data and internal quality systems (BQ9000/LIMS) to ensure product consistency, in-spec shipments, food safety and customer focus through active participation on the management team at the Biodiesel Plant and Glycerin Refinery
* Provide support for the refinery quality control program in the areas of food safety, GMP's, and internal and external audits
* Position will be directly responsible for managing and maintaining current files, including writing quality control manuals, conducting and/ or managing any changes, communicating and leading quarterly quality control meetings
* Will be responsible for final product approvals
* Active leadership role in plant customer visits

Requirements |
Qualifications:
Required:
* Bachelors degree in science discipline
* Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience
* Minimum of 2 years experience working in a production facility
* Willing to be on rotating "on-call" duties with other supervisors/superintendent for laboratory and production plant issues.
Desired:
* Bachelors degree in Chemistry or applicable production laboratory setting
* Prefer individual with knowledge of ASTM methods and USP methods experience
* Instrumentation experience and troubleshooting on analytical equipment and use of a GC with Cool-on Column (COC) injector experience. Knowledge and prior use of ICP instruments
* Knowledge of OSHA lab requirements
* Ability to teach and coach lab tech and biodiesel techs in lab methodology and programs
* Experienced interfacing with customers
* Energetic
* Goal oriented
* Ability to motivate others
* Ability to multi-task in a small organization with high degree of responsibility
* Ability to work across multiple functions to accomplish company goals
